How do you wholesale wrapping paper?
Wrapping paper is the product I LOVE to hate.
I just need to get that out there front and center, lol.
Here are a few things to consider when wholesaling your own wrapping paper.
cost
time spent rolling the paper into a roll
packaging
audience
Let's talk about these in order.
1. To produce the wrapping paper I wholesale I use StationeryHQ. I created a wholesale account so that cuts the cost down dramatically. I also order a higher volume to keep the cost lower per sheet. Each roll of wrapping paper I sell has two sheets.
2. After I receive the box from Stationery HQ, it is time to roll. In the beginning, my time spent rolling was agonizing. Your time will improve. I can roll about 60 rolls per hour- I am thinking of starting a competition, ha ha. Please keep in mind your hands on time for any product you produce.
3. To keep my rolls clean and secure I use a plastic tube sleeve from clear bags. I believe mine are the 2 x 22 inch sleeve. I also order a sticker label to put on each roll from Online Labels. I also use boxes from Packaging Price that are 22 x 6 x 6 for wholesale or cardboard tubes with plastic end caps to mail individual rolls. There are a lot of pieces to making wrapping paper work.
4. I want to bring up audience because it is important to know who you are selling to. Do they want wrapping paper? Another way to start out and test your audience without all of the overhead mentioned above is to use Zazzle, a print on demand company. They will print and ship your orders for you and you can gather data about what your customers want. This is great for direct to customer sales.
With all that said, I still love love love wrapping paper. Nothing beats seeing my artwork at this scale. It is so fun!
