How do I package a tea towel?

Let's discuss the options for how to package a tea towel!

Once you get your tea towels in the mail, you are almost ready to sell them! Woo-hoo! If you plan on selling wholesale or at a market you may want to add a few more finishing details. I am going to tell you what I do and then I am going to share a couple more options!

I use belly bands for all of my tea towels. I have them printed through Printswell Fullfillment and I customize each belly band with a motif from the tea towel. My hope is that by showing buyers what is on the belly band they will not be inclined to unband and unfold the towel to see the full design. I close the belly band with a clear circle sticker that I get in bulk off of Amazon. To be totally honest, as my line of tea towels has grown, the work that goes into each towel has as well- due to each towel having their own design, buuuuuut, I love them. I love that they are all unique and I feel like it pulls the packaging together for my towel.

One other options to consider would be asking your manufacturer if they offer packaging. This would be significantly easier and less ordering. You will most likely have to order a higher quantity of belly bands and then the factory will store them for your future orders.

Another option is to roll your tea towel (instead of folding) and add a hang tag. This is a great way to highlight the full design and other branding to your package. This can be tied around the towel with string or twine- depending on what is on brand for you. You can also buy your hang tags from Printswell Fullfillment. ( Look under Gift tags- wink wink).

In the beginning of my tea towel journey, I printed all my belly bands at home on an office printer. This made it easy and affordable to try this new product. I suggest packaging your tea towels in a way that is easy and makes sense for where you are in your business.

Oh! I do have a fun tip to pass on- figure out how you want your tea towels folded, make a video of the fold and then send it to your manufacturer. When I started ordering overseas my towels were folded in threes and were really too large to ship in my standard envelope. It was then suggested to me to film how I wanted them folded and ask the factory to do it that way! Genius! Don't be afraid to ask for your product ready to go- it will save you so much time in the end.
